ROE IS OVERTURNED.

Roe v. Wade has been overturned. The federal government is not coming to save us.

State legislatures are now the main battleground for reproductive freedom – including abortion access and care.

Building the power to protect reproductive rights means electing Democrats to state legislatures.

26 states where bans are in place or will be soon.

This vile ruling throws reproductive rights back into the hands of the states, spelling disaster for tens of millions of people in states with Republican-controlled legislatures across the country.
Abortion access is now banned or is likely to be banned soon in 26 Republican-controlled states. It’s up to state legislators to reverse this trend and ensure safe and legal access to abortion care. The DLCC and state Democrats are on the front lines of this fight.

Roe is the floor, not the ceiling.

When Democrats hold power, they immediately take steps to codify reproductive rights, improve health care access and affordability, and ensure that all people have the tools to care for themselves and their families.
Thanks in part to supporters like you, every state with a Democratic-majority legislature has protected or expanded abortion access.

We can protect abortion rights by winning state legislatures this year.

Congress doesn’t have the numbers to protect abortion rights – so now it’s up to state Democrats to protect reproductive freedom. Together, we, the American people must meet the urgency of this moment and mobilize to elect Democrats in state legislative races.
We can have the biggest impact by flipping chambers in these five states from red to blue.*

How YOU can help

State legislative races are often decided by a handful of votes so any action you take will help build a movement strong enough to take on Republicans and elect Democrats who will protect reproductive freedom.
Here are three things you can do to build the power to protect reproductive freedom in states across the country:

What’s at Stake

D eciding if, when, and how to have a child is a basic human right – and people denied abortions are at greater risk for poverty, domestic violence, and serious health problems. Restricting and banning abortion doesn’t affect everyone equally; it disproportionately hurts people of color, low-income people, the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, young people, those living in rural communities, and people with disabilities.
Democratic states aren’t immune to the consequences of overturning Roe either. Many Democratic states will be flooded by patients from abortion-restricted states who are seeking abortion care. Nevertheless, Republicans are relentlessly trying to strip even more Americans of their reproductive freedom.
Republicans are targeting Democratic-held chambers in these states in 2022. If they win a majority, they could restrict or ban abortion and even move on to attack birth control access next.
It’s critical Democrats protect their power in these states to defend reproductive freedom.
